CrossFit Elements

Elements is a program integrated into the regular class where you will learn all of the essential movements to ensure your success to meet your goals.  In addition to learning movements such as squats, presses, lifts and various bodyweight movements, you will also receive instruction on proper warm-up techniques, mobility, flexibility, breathing and proper nutrition.  Without previous CrossFit experience, completion of this 1-month program is compulsory before attending other programs.

CrossFit

This is our regular class focusing on unlocking human performance, as well as general health and wellness. Expect to be pushed outside your comfort zone regularly, reaping all the rewards which come with that level of intensity.   Expanding from the Elements, metabolic conditioning, gymnastics, powerlifting, strongman, rowing, running and Olympic weightlifting become tools of self development that can be used in daily life and competing in any sport.

Each class would include the following:

General Warmup

Specific Warmup and Instruction of Movements

Strength and Skill Work

Scaling Options and Review of Programmed Workout

Coaching during the Workout to Ensure Safety and the Proper Intensity

Cool Down or Skill Work

CrossFit KIDS + TEENS

These are two separate classes.  Kids from 6-11, Teens from 12-18.  Learning a lifestyle of fitness and good nutrition from a young age is essential for maintaining lifelong habits of healthy behaviour and a LOVE OF FITNESS!  With this program you can get everyone interested in fitness early, inspiring them to set goals, understand nutrition, build self-esteem and become part of a community of athletes and friends.

The Kids + Teens Program puts constantly varied, functional movements together in an engaging fun way. We combine elements from gymnastics, strength training and body weight exercises with cardiovascular intensive bursts.

This will help learn better movement patterns, coordination, balance and gain strength. No matter what sport is of interest to participate in, CrossFit Kids + Teens can help improve performance and quality of life.

Excellence comes from attention to detail, consistency and constant learning.  For those interested in training and practicing the explosive power, strength, speed and balance of competitive CrossFit, Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Strongman or Gymnastics as stand alone training or to supplement CrossFit training.

LITTLE SAMURAIS BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU

Little Samurais is an after school program related to Self-defense Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and fun activities for children ages 5 to 12 years old.

Ijime is the word for bullying in Japanese. When a child learns self-defense Jiu-Jitsu, it gives them the confidence and tools they need to stop suffering 'ijime' and excel in life! The Little Samurais program is designed to improve your child's confidence and fitness, all that while playing games and having tones of fun!

Your child will be taught to use negotiation skills to control ijime bullies and several non-violent self-defense techniques to stay safe if physically attacked. In conclusion, your child will get ready to defend themselves against bullies without turning into one.

KING JIUJITSU

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting.  BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique, leverage and most notably, taking the fight to the ground.

WILLOW TREE MARTIAL ARTS

Goshin Aiki Jujitsu follows the Water Principle.  As water flows down hill, it never meets an obstacle head on but always flows around or to the side, weaving its way to its destination. This principle enables women and people of smaller stature to overcome much larger opponents.

Aiki Jujitsu is a fusion of the  Chinese and Okinawan kicking and striking techniques, blended with the throwing, grappling and joint locking of Daito-Ryu, and modern-day Jujitsu.  Aiki Jujitsu is one of the oldest Japanese martial arts, dating back more than five hundred years to the time of the Samurai.

Aiki Jujitsu is the most effective and safe art for law enforcement and security personnel, dealing with many controlling and submission techniques, as well as in-depth study of night stick (hanbo) and arrest techniques.

We have two main goals at Willowtree:  They are to preserve the Art of Aiki Jujitsu but firstly to provide students with tools that they can utilize for their own self defense.  Techniques are clearly delineated into skills developing exercises and self defensive moves for either social situation or life preservation.

We teach the key principles of Aiki Jujistu from a physical perspective .  These are Awareness, Breathing, Distance, Balance, Focus, Blending, Striking and Distraction.
